One Arm Bandit Restoration Project
Reproducing One Arm Bandit missing parts
The main problem that we encountered during undergoing this restoration project was that replacement parts for these machines are few and far between. Due to the age and rarity of the machines it’s impossible to get hold of many parts.
We decided to reproduce any parts that we were missing using a liquid resin molding procedure. We used identical parts from other machines to produce a rubber mold and then poured a liquid resin into each mold. We left them for at least 24 hours to harden before removing them from the molds. The newly molded parts were then prepped and wet painted using the identical colour code to match the powder coated parts. We also molded some replacement glasses out of epoxy resin.
Many of the plastic display panels and jackpot cards were missing or unsalvageable so we had them reproduced and laid up on new pieces of Perspex with a slightly more modern design.
