One Arm Bandit Restoration Project
Refurbishing the metal parts
Once completely stripped, all the metal parts were welded and repaired where necessary. They were then all sand blasted to remove years of old paint and debris (we found a lot of the cabinets had undergone many colour changes over the years) they were then fully prepared ready to be powder coated.
We picked a completely different colour scheme for every cabinet; this made every machine unique and gave them a more modern look. Every panel was powder coated in its individual colour then baked in the oven. After the panels had cooled they were now ready to put the machines back together.
Any of the components which would have originally had a brass or metallic finish we cleaned up using an abrasive emery cloth. We then polished each part using various metal finishing products with an electric polishing wheel and then coated them with two layers of clear lacquer to preserve the original shiny finish.
